Here we are again for some more tasty treats taken from Twitter, this time around everyone’s favourite dunker – the institution that is the biscuit!
So quicker than you can say shortbread – here’s what we found from Week 2’s generous serving.
- The 60 minute GBBO show generated 88,402 tweets.
That’s over 60,000 less than the opening episode of the series! - Including one hour pre and post show – between 19:00-22:00 = 117,658 tweets
- It was ‘Biscuit week’ this week – and we saw the word ‘biscuit’ used in 13,568 posts during the show’s duration. That’s 226 people posting about biscuits every minute!
- During the show tweets were split: 28% Positive, 19% Negative, 53% Neutral
- As per last week, just under twice as many females posted about GBBO than males – Of those whose gender we can distinguish – 24% Males, 45% Females (31% organisations/other)
- Highest individual minute of engagement was between 20:56-20:57, just as we found out who was going to be ‘Star Baker’ and who was leaving, with 2960 posts in 60 seconds.
- Across the 60minute tv show average tweets per minute was 1473. That’s an average of just under 25 tweets per second! This is considerably less than the 42 tweets per second we saw last week!
- Across the 60 minutes of broadcasting, the hashtag #GBBO (which generated an exclusive BakeOff tent emoji) was used 78,481 times – that’s 88% of all posts – good work again hashtaggers!
- The three most prevalent recognised emotions expressed were the very same as last week: Happiness – in 32.8% of posts, Love in 27.6% and Anger in 17.6%. (See the lovely emotion donut later!)
- The Blurrt Score (a unique combination of volume and sentiment) hit a three minute significant low between 20:47-20:50. The public really felt the stress with those delicate biscuit builds!
- For the second week running, the most influential twitter account posting about Bake Off was Fearne Cotton with 7.2million followers – who posted 3 times during the show.
Other influential posters included The Guardian, Scotty T from Geordie Shore, comedian Rufus Hound, clothing brand ASOS, The Mirror and olympian Rebecca Adlington.
- The Queen of Tarts, ‘Mary’ received 4928 mentions during the show, beating away the King of Breads, ‘Paul’ for 2 weeks running with only 3566 mentions. You’re closing that gap though Paul!
