We’ve been tracking the Twitter conversations and reactions to the Scottish referendum since 1 January 2014. Now the referendum is a little under 2 months away we thought we’d post weekly on the Twitter reactions. The graph below shows the blurrt scorre® for both the Yes and No campaigns over the previous 7 days. The blurrt scorre® is a combination of both Twitter sentiment and volume and is from 0 – 100. The score reacts to both sentiment and volume to give a more rounded picture of the Twitter reaction. It’s also a useful metric to measure Twitter reaction over time.
The blue line below represents support for the Yes campaign whilst the red represents No.
Is this a tipping point in the referendum? Is the Yes campaign pulling away? Is the fact that the voting age has been reduced more of a factor on Twitter than the polls? Is the Twitter reaction skewed with non-scottish tweeters? We’ll keep track of the data in the run up to the referendum and see if we can answer some of these questions.
