Mark Noble Meets A Fan

After Spurs beat his West Ham side 3-2 on Sunday, Mark Noble made headlines for tweeting a photo with a fan who had travelled a long way to see the Hammers play. Nothing strange there, but a tweet went viral suggesting that Noble had mixed up where the fan had come from…

It was later revealed that the account was fake, which just goes to show the effort some people will go to for a joke!

Morata Makes His Mark

New striker Alvaro Morata has been impressing the Chelsea faithful and with Diego Costa having finally confirmed that he will be departing Stamford Bridge in January, Morata has stolen the limelight without even breaking sweat. Chelsea fans have certainly warmed to the Spanish star, with happiness making up 76% of the emotional reaction to him on Sunday after his incredible hat-trick against Stoke.

Jones Shows His Class

Phil Jones has been a key figure in central defence for Manchester United this season and continues to see the positivity surrounding his performances grow. After he was crucial to United’s 1-0 win against Southampton, Jones received a boost of 13% in positive conversation about him, seeing his overall positivity rise to 89%. For a centre back that’s incredibly high, particularly for a player like Jones who has been the subject of considerable mocking over the last few seasons.

Pogba Conversation Continues

Even in absentia, Paul Pogba is one of the most talked about players in the Premier League every week. Despite a thigh injury, Pogba remained in the top 10 of players with the most conversation after United fans lamented his absence and opposition fans continued to question whether he was really worth the hype. Very few players generate as much debate as Pogba on a weekly basis: play well, it’s proof he’s worth the money United paid for him; play poorly, look how many better midfielders there are that were bought for cheaper. The French playmaker is everything the Premier League wants in a star midfielder: flashy, talented and unmissable.

Hot Topics

This is the first time we’ve taken a look at the Who’s Hot, Who’s Not section of the Hub, which shows who has seen their levels of conversation increase or decrease the most in comparison to the game before. On Game Week 6, Simon Mignolet saw his conversation levels soar after saving a penalty that he himself gave away! Brighton’s Tomer Hemed scored the winning goal as his side defeated fellow newcomers Newcastle on Sunday. Manchester City team mates Fabian Delph and Leroy Sane both saw vastly increased levels of conversation as Delph got some game time and a goal and Sane was in the running for Man of the Match after another impressive display from the youngster. Shinji Okazaki completed the top 5 after seeing his conversation rise by 2,269% thanks to his goal-line finish to bring his side back into the game against Liverpool before halftime.
