At Blurrt, we collect all the social media conversation surrounding Premier League players and have found a number of stories you may have missed from another weekend of top class action. The best part is that all of these stories can be found within 5 minutes using our incredible Sports Hub!
Ritchie Avoids Red
Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie was booked during his side’s clash with Swansea on Sunday because his foot was too high as he went into a challenge with Alfie Mawson. On any other weekend this might have simply been a contentious decision, but after Liverpool’s Sadio Mane was sent off on Saturday Ritchie’s challenge was thrust into the spotlight. As you can imagine, the fact he only got a yellow card didn’t go down well with Liverpool fans… Confusion made up 50% of emotion-bearing posts and anger made up 35%, demonstrating just how irritated they were at the decision.
Morata Makes An Impact
Alvaro Morata was Chelsea’s headline summer signing and has certainly made an impact on and off the field so far. The big Spaniard has filled Diego Costa’s boots comfortably; he’s scored 3 goals so far this season and looked very impressive as the line-leader at Stamford Bridge. This has clearly endeared him to the Chelsea faithful, earning him his own chant within a matter of months of arriving. However, that chant turned out to be incredibly offensive and Morata came out with an official statement and a message on social media to demand that the fans drop the song and show respect to everyone:
Since I arrived, I have been able to feel your support every single day, you are amazing and I'd like to ask you to please respect everyone!

Great stuff from the Spanish star!
Sanches Suffers At Swansea
Renato Sanches struggled to make a positive impact on his Swansea debut, giving the ball away a number of times and really finding it difficult to adjust to the Premier League. Some fans weren’t slow to pick up on that theme, giving Sanches no leeway at all on his debut for the Swans:
Renato Sanches can't pass the salt at dinner. He cuts inside onto his right does a 360 turn & blasts it out of the kitchen window. #SWANEW

Emotionally, fans were divided on Sanches’ performance. Some were worried whether the Portuguese youngster would be able to adjust to the league, others were angry that he didn’t seem to be making the effort to correct his mistakes, whilst some were satisfied that he would improve.
Welbeck Was Somehow Wonderful
Danny Welbeck had an amazing game against Bournemouth, scoring twice and being involved in a third as his side dominated against Bournemouth. The Manchester United academy product has failed to really make a positive impact at the Emirates yet but he played really well this weekend and impressed Arsenal fans for once. That led to a huge sentiment swing from negative to positive, with tweets about Welbeck receiving 45% more positivity than the previous week! Welbeck will be hoping to carry this form forward into the rest of the season to keep the fans behind him.
Oxlade-Chamberlain Suffers On Debut
Liverpool’s disappointing 5-0 defeat against Manchester City was delightfully received by Arsenal fans for one reason: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The midfielder signed for the Reds on deadline day from the Gunners and had to watch from the bench as his side were demolished by Pep Guardiola’s impressive attacking unit. Bad first impressions are nothing new for the Ox, as this tweet showed…

Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool.

But one fan knew that Oxlade-Chamberlain would find a way to overcome Liverpool’s humiliating defeat. He moved to Liverpool the week after his Arsenal side lost 4-0 to them, so what should he do after his new side slumped to a 5-0 defeat? Move to Manchester City of course!
