Blurrt, a leading social media analytics and understanding platform, today showed their dedication towards innovating within the broadcast television sector as they added highly experienced sales and business development director, Scott Barber, to their increasingly growing and passionate team.

In his new role, Scott will look to drive Blurrt’s innovative and unique ability to analyse and understand social media content firmly towards the broadcast media sector; with a particular focus within the world of sport and on-screen visualisation graphics.

Scott joins with over 20 years of experience within the broadcast industry, 15 of which have been spent directly within sales and business development for both the UK and the wider international market. Scott’s career has seen him involved with selling established products to market with companies such as Vizrt, Pixel Power, SAM and MetraWeather, along with working with newer concepts whilst in a business development role for never.no.

With Blurrt looking to develop their offering within the broadcast media space; Scott’s expert knowledge of broadcast and graphics will no doubt provide an invaluable contribution for the 2 ½ year old tech company. Educated in broadcast operations, Scott began his career working as a graphics designer within live broadcast production, working at CNBC, Sky and ITV, before progressing to international sales and managerial positions.

Scott’s extensive experience within the broadcast space has seen him enjoy a successful career with the BBC; from his first position at BBC Sport as their Graphics Producer to a more recent technology consultant role at BBC Wales, as well as being paramount in winning a framework agreement contract with BBC News for Vizrt in the UK.

Blurrt will also be looking to utilise Scott’s experience within international markets, with a view that as a former Sales Director for Vizrt India, Scott may just be the right person to open doors for social media storytelling within the broadcast space around the world.

Scott becomes the sixth member of staff to join the Blurrt team this year following a successful crowdfunding campaign on the Seedr’s platform in early January.
Already firmly established in the world of social media analysis and understanding, Blurrt provide fantastic insights into impact and effectiveness across social media, collecting and understanding millions of social media posts in real-time, as well as being able to display aggregate audience data as engaging and easy to understand visuals.

Co-founded by CEO Jason Smith in 2013, Blurrt has grown to a 16 strong team of ambitious and passionate staff, with offices in both Cardiff and central London.

Commenting on Scott’s appointment, Jason said:

“Scott’s experience and knowledge of the broadcast sector is unparalleled. I’m thrilled that he’s joining us here at Blurrt at a particularly exciting time where we believe we can make real waves within the social media and broadcast technology space.”

Scott said:

“I’m really looking forward to working with the whole Blurrt team and am genuinely excited about the potential of using social media to provide on-screen insights for broadcasters. I’m joining at a particularly exciting time for the company, where there is a real opportunity to make Blurrt the definitive real-time social media tool used both on-screen and within the wider broadcast environment. Jason has put together a highly talented team that I can’t wait to start working with.”
