Hinterland, a BBC Wales/S4C celtic noir drama set in Aberystwyth, originally had very successful airings on S4C and BBC Wales. As a result it has been running on BBC4 over the last 4 weeks. Since the 28th April, the show has received 4.21k tweets with a high 45% expressing a positive sentiment, 15% negative and 40% neutral.
BBC4 broadcast the last episode on Monday night and the *average sentiment graph below would suggest a very contented audience posting 677 tweets in the last 24 hours.
However, the Twitter activity has concentrated around the broadcast window which would suggest that the programmes have not been watched as much on iPlayer. The volume graph shows the Twitter activity over the last 4 weeks.
This insight is corroborated by using Blurrt’s report function and just searching for tweets mentioning “Hinterland” and “iPlayer”. The resulting graph below would suggest that the BBC promoted Hinterland on iPlayer around the first episode, but thereafter the promotions tailed off.
How’s that for a twist! #Hinterland brilliant and powerful stuff. Roll on season 2

Such a shame #Hinterland has come to the end of the series. Looking forward to series 2.

If you haven’t watched the series yet, there are 6 days left to watch Series 1 of Hinterland on BBCiPlayer.
The series was originally aired on S4C so you can catch the series in Welsh on S4C Clic .
*Average sentiment is a score attributed to each tweet ranging from +5 being very positive to -5 being very negative
