Digital 2014 is the Welsh Government’s flagship digital conference being held in the Celtic Manor during 9th and 10th June. Day 1 brought together young people, educators, employers and other stakeholders to discuss the digital future of education, training and careers opportunities in Wales.
Day 1 started with Maggie Philbin, TechTech, presenting the results of some research conducted during April and May 2014. TeenTech asked over 1000 young people from across Wales their views on the ICT and digital agenda in Wales via an online survey. The results were distilled into a manifesto which was based on the opinions and aspirations of this group of young people. These digital natives certainly drove the agenda and debate with a number of speakers recounting their ICT experiences within the education curriculum as well as their observations on their ICT job prospects.
The energy in the main conference room was very positive and the event included 5 sessions, 14 workshops and a marketplace. The conference has been received very favourably as demonstrated by the sentiment expressed in the tweets during the day.
Over a period of 24 hours of Blurrt collecting data, Day 1 generated 2.37k tweets (including retweets) of which 47% were positive, 6% negative and 47% neutral in tone.
